The Taliban attacked the Panjshir Valley after several days of talks.
Kabul (News
Update) Afghan TV channel, citing sources close to Ahmad Masood, head
of the National Resistance Front, claimed that a checkpoint in Panjshir
was attacked by the Taliban but was foiled by the resistance forces. Fighting
between the Taliban and resistance forces continues.
On the other hand, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid
said that they did not know anything about the fighting.

Panjshir Security |
Earlier, US media reported that talks were ongoing between the Taliban and the resistance frontage on the Panjshir matter. There is no deadlock between the parties but the pace of negotiations is slow.
It should be noted that the Taliban have taken over the
whole of Afghanistan except the Panjshir Valley. Here,
the National Resistance Front, driven by Ahmed Masood, child of earlier
Northern Alliance warrior Ahmad Shah Masood, has announced guard from the
Taliban. Previous Afghan Vice President and so called President
Amrullah Saleh is likewise present in the Panjshir Valley.

Panjshir Valley |
Seven to eight Taliban fighters were killed in an attack on the Panjshir Valley last night.
According to
Reuters, the Taliban had launched an attack on the western side
of the Panjshir Valley last night, which was thwarted by Ahmed
Masood's National Resistance Front. A spokesman for the front, Fahim Dashti,
said the Taliban may have carried out the attack to assess the
defense situation, in which eight Taliban fighters were killed
and as many wounded. Two National Resistance Front fighters were wounded during
the operation.
Bismillah
Mohammadi, who served as minister in Ashraf Ghani's administration, said in a
tweet that seven militants had been killed in last night's attack.
On Tuesday, the Taliban
released a video of militants outside the Panjshir Valley, in
which the Taliban commander claimed to have captured three key areas and routes
in the Panjshir Valley. Soon they will declare complete victory.
It should be noted that on August 15, the Taliban had taken over all of Afghanistan, but Panjshir province is still not under Taliban control. Here, the National Resistance Front, led by Ahmed Masood, declared resistance to the Taliban. The Taliban are holding talks with the front, but their pace has been slower than expected, prompting Taliban fighters to attack the valley on Monday night.
