Surah Al-i-Imran, Ayat No 140

Surah No. 3, Al-Imran, Verse No. 140

Translation:

If you have been afflicted with any of these, then behold, they have been afflicted with a similar affliction, and these are the days which We revolve between people, and that is the consequence. 

That Allah may make the believers to recognize and give to some of you the status of martyrs, and Allah does not love the unjust.

Interpretation:

It refers to the Battle of Badr. And it means to say that when the disbelievers did not lose heart after eating this injury, then why should you lose courage over this injury. One of the meanings of this is that some of you wanted to be martyred, that is, some people wanted to be honored with martyrdom. 

The second meaning of this verse is that out of this mixed group of believers and hypocrites, which you are now comprising, he wanted to sort out those who are in fact worthy of the glorious position to which we have given the Ummah.

اگر تمہیں  (اب )  کوئی چوٹ  (زخم)  لگی ہے تو (یاد رکھو کہ ) وہ لوگ بھی  ایسی ہی چوٹ سے دو چار ہو چکے ہیں، اور یہ دن (ایاّم) ہیں جنہیں ہم لوگوں کے درمیان پھیرتے رہتے ہیں، اور یہ (گردشِ ایّام) اس لئے ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ ایمان والوں کی پہچان کرا دے اور تم میں سے بعض (لوگوں) کو شہادت کا رُتبہ عطا کرے ، اور اللہ  تعالیٰ ظالموں کو پسند نہیں کرتا۔

تفسیر:

اس آیت میں جنگِ بدر کی طرف اشارہ کیا گیا ہے۔ اورسمجھانے کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ جب اس چوٹ (زخم) کو کھا کرمشرکین نے ہمت نہیں ہاری تو اِس چوٹ (زخم) پرتم لوگ ہمت کیوں ہار رہے ہو۔ اس کا ایک مطلب تو یہ ہے کہ تم میں سے کچھ شہید لینا چاہتا تھا، یعنی کچھ لوگوں کو شہادت کی عزت بخشنا چاہتا تھا ۔ 

اس آیت کادوسرا مطلب یہ بھی  ہے کہ اہل ایمان اور منافقین کے اس مخلوط گروہ میں سے، جس پر تم اس وقت مشتمل ہو، ان لوگوں کو الگ چھانٹ لینا چاہتا تھا جوحقیقت میں اس منصب جلیل کے اہل ہیں جس پر ہم نے امت مسلمہ کو سرفراز کیا ہے ۔
