Local Government Units may start ready money aid distribution expected on 07 August 2021: DSWD

MANILA, Philippines Cash aid to individuals by Saturday

Cash support for people affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila may be given expectantly by Saturday on 07 August, said by DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development).

Manila, Philippines (News Update), Irene Dumlao spokesperson of DSWD told that the fund for the economic aid will be directly handed over to local government units-LGUs.

She said, a formerly circular and notice of ready cash delivery is issued, the local government may begin aid payment with effect from 7^th Aug, 2021.

Dumlao said that distribution mechanism of cash among individuals depends on local government units how they will accomplish the distribution.

She added more, there was really no big transforms in the procedure that they have adopted in the past when the administration first implemented enhanced the public quarantine.

She noted that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was only tasked with recognition of which families or persons are entitled to the money support, which was meant to cushion the impact of the covid plague on the needy sector or those who lost their means of livelihood.

The spokesperson of DSWD Dumlao said, our management will have to check with the Department of Budget and Management if the processes have been accomplished or presently being carried out.

She told that, President Rodrigo Duterte earlier permitted the cash distribution of 1 thousand PHP per head, but not more than 4 thousands PHP per household under ECQ.

Philippines ID will provide accuracy in targeting recipient

In the meantime, Bautista said that a fully digital experience on the delivery of aid will soon be grasped through the Philippine Identification System ID “Phil Sys ID” or national ID of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

He told more that without national ID, it would be actually complex to find the beneficiaries. He added more that “PhilSysID” will serve as basis to actually recognize the recipient and register them to digital payments.

As of 2nd July, 2021, Philippine Statistics Authority “PSA” recorded a total of thirty-seven million one hundred eighty thousand seven hundred ten Filipinos who finished the first step for national ID registration. The Philippine Statistics Authority intentions to register around fifty to seventy millions by the end of 2021.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development ‘DSWD’ offered data that over seventeen million low-income families were recorded to have received their first tranche of Social Amelioration Program “SAP” amounting to ninety eight billion PHP. For the 2nd tranche of SAP, 14.88 million families received cash assistance worth PHP89.8 billion as of 2nd July, 2021.
